Black Kids Catchy as hell. That's the only phrase one can use to describe the debut Black Kids album, Partie Traumatic. Armed with their trusty synthesizers, 80s know-how style and beats that will make you want to get down 'til the sun comes up, this interracial indie rock group is reviving the dance rock craze we all dearly love and miss. | | This item includes 1 comment |

The Haunt The scene that showed up for live music at The Haunt on Friday night was a mixed one. The post-Valentine’s Day concert brought together three unlikely bands from Ithaca and from out of town. Beginning at 8 p.m., the lineup opened with local pop-rock quartet Father Son, followed by indie-favorites The Tundra Toes, and ended with The Thief, a hard-driving rock band from Wanaque, NJ. On paper, the lineup transcends genre but on stage, the three bands reminded the crowd at The Haunt that, whether it’s indie or mainstream, Rock and Roll is about dancing and having a great time. | | No comments for this item |

What do you get when you combine the talents of Down and Pantera's Phil Anselmo, Eyehategod's Mike Williams, and country and metal crossover star Hank Williams III? Well, apparently the sounds of someone who ate too much Taco Bell and has just discarded it through the rear. | | No comments for this item |

Listening to the Real Be Easys’ “Lost Paradise” is like gulping down lukewarm tap water after a 5K run; it’s not great, but I’ll take it. I listened to the album for about three hours and I didn’t look at the beta disc because listening to the alpha gave me more than enough of the Real Be Easys. The album is just too nostalgic of old Red Hot Chili Peppers funk and overall it sounded like the RHCP’s self-titled first album. Remember that creepy “Mommy, Where’s Daddy?” song? Yeah, it’s like that. | | This item includes 1 comment |
