Interview with the metal/hardcore band SKY EATS AIRPLANE (www.myspace.com/skyeatsairplane)

Q: Alright. Name, instrument and the worst movie you've ever seen?
A: Lee Duck, guitar, and the notebook was pretty lame and predictable (sorry ladies)

Q: A lot of people "classify" your band differently. metal, hardcore, electronica; how would you describe your sound?
A: We describe ourself as a band with metal and hardcore (metalcore) structure and electronica to make the music even better.

Q: Who are some of your musical influences?
A: umm me personally... dj tiesto, ion dissonance, meshuggah, industrial electronica, acceptance (r.i.p.), sigur ros.... im pretty diverse!

Q: and non-musical?
A: My mom and my bandmates. They are both awesome.

Q: You guys currently aren't signed to a label, but you still have a huge fan following. how is most of your promoting done?
A: Promotion has always been through word of mouth through us. we feel that if people want to hear their music they dont need someone breathing drown their neck, forcing them to listen to it. so we rely on people who enjoy our music to convey it to their friends.

Q: Where does the band name come from?
A: The band name is simply just something that sounded unique and different at the time. we were sick of all the bands then (and now) that are all the same 10 recycled words.

Q: What's your opinion about the "popular" bands today, like Fall Out Boy?
A: I like fall out boys music, but some of my bandmates dont. all musicians are the same for the most part. no matter how big or how small they are they have all experienced the same crap. so i have respect for any musicians that dont think they are just downright better than everyone.

Q: So, you're in the process of recording a new CD. the tracks on your myspace sound awesome. what should fans expect from this next album?
A: We arent recording a cd, we just recorded a few demo songs to show everyone what we were working on lately. expect a full length polished release hopefully by early next year =D

Q: What advice would you give to up and coming bands?

A. just try to be as original as you can musically without no being yourself.

Q: Any funny or embarrassing recording/on the road stories?

A. Haha, there's been quite a few funny stories. one time in the early hours
of the morning, we finally arrived at our place to sleep. when we just got there in the van there was a horse standing in front of us with us only able to see its silhouette from the front. it looked like some really funny looking guy with ears, and we were all pretty tired and dazed so we all were acting like it was saying "GREEEETINGGSSSS" haha maybe its just an inside joke. i dunno.
